This is a BIG one!

Join me for this epic adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania!

Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the worlds Seven Summits at 19,341ft. This is Africa’s tallest peak and the world’s tallest free standing mountain.

Let’s make our way to the summit together!

THE CLIMB

Kilimanjaro is known as ‘every man’s mountain’ because most climbing days are not very difficult. With a little planning and preparation reaching the summit is achievable for even the most beginning hikers.

We will climb the Lemosho Route which has the highest success rate of all the climbing routes on the mountain at 95%. This route has excellent acclimatization opportunities and low traffic. The climb will be smooth and gradual and will take us through 5 climate zones. From alpine desert to arctic, and all the way back through a rainforest! The views are breathtaking.

Total mileage on the Lemosho Route is 42 miles covered over 7 days with a total elevation gain of 7,850ft.

Average hiking mileage for the first 4 days is 5.2miles. The remaining 17 miles are covered in 2 days between summit and descent.

ON THE MOUNTAIN

During our climb you will be fully supported by a professional mountain crew with Wilderness First Responder training and over 7 years of climbing experience.

Porters will climb along side us carrying 15kg of your personal belongings, tents, food, water and everything else that makes up camp on the mountain.

You will hike with just your day pack!

We will be VERY well cared for. With 3 full meals daily (food restrictions can be accommodated), unlimited fresh drinking water, hot coffee and tea in the morning AND mid-hike on the mountain with snacks!

Not only will our mountain crew ensure you are comfortable and cared for, they will check your oxygen levels and physical condition 2x daily.

It is not anticipated oxygen will be needed for this climb, but it will be carried by our mountain guides daily and available for you if necessary.

The highest priority on this climb is helping you make make it to the summit and back safely!

Oh, and I should mention the hot water bottle disguised as a Bunny stuffed animal you will receive before bed each night to keep you warm in your sleeping bag 😉 Lala Salama

VOLUNTOURISM

As a part of our trip you will have the opportunity to donate hiking equipment, clothes and/or shoes directly to the Kilimanjaro Porters. These people work incredibly hard to move us safely to the summit and back.

The Porters and Guides in our group are a part of the non-profit organization that ensures they are paid fairly and do not carry more than 20kg. However, you will see for yourself most of them do not have proper shoes, coats or in some cases even a backpack for their own belongings.

Donations can simply be clothes from your bag after the climb or your hiking boots. Or more substantial donations can be made before or after the climb with items that you do not take on the mountain. More information on this to come.

SAFARI

Oct 4 – Oct 7, 2022  (or Sept 23 – Sept 26)

Once in Africa it just feels right to spend a couple days on SAFARI! I will arrange an optional 2-Day Safari after our climb (or before) at an additional cost.

The safari group will be limited to only members of our retreat.
